2020 is, for better or worse, nearing its end. These final three months will be some of the most important for a nonprofit organization that relies on donations for revenue. Qgiv estimates that more than 35% of all donations happen between October and December each year, and for some organizations, it is much more than that.

In fact, for some nonprofits, a poor end of year fundraising campaign spells disaster for the organization.

As the calendar turns to October, here are some tips to make sure your fundraising is successful:

  1. Make sure your database is clean. Having current phone numbers, emails, and physical addresses is crucial in organizing your campaign
  2. Look at your results from your last campaign. What did you learn? Apply it to this effort
  3. Look at your budget and create a clear fundraising goal
  4. Identify how you will reach your stakeholders. Email, social media, direct mail, phone calls, all of the above?
  5. Use October to get all your letters and media ready and create a calendar so you are not scrambling in November and December
  6. Engage your board and most ardent supporters to fundraise on your behalf
  7. Most importantly, create a plan to thank your supporters!
