2020 is, for better or worse, nearing its end. These final three months will be some of the most important for a nonprofit organization that relies on donations for revenue. Qgiv estimates that more than 35% of all donations happen between October and December each year, and for some organizations, it is much more than that.
In fact, for some nonprofits, a poor end of year fundraising campaign spells disaster for the organization.
As the calendar turns to October, here are some tips to make sure your fundraising is successful:
- Make sure your database is clean. Having current phone numbers, emails, and physical addresses is crucial in organizing your campaign
- Look at your results from your last campaign. What did you learn? Apply it to this effort
- Look at your budget and create a clear fundraising goal
- Identify how you will reach your stakeholders. Email, social media, direct mail, phone calls, all of the above?
- Use October to get all your letters and media ready and create a calendar so you are not scrambling in November and December
- Engage your board and most ardent supporters to fundraise on your behalf
- Most importantly, create a plan to thank your supporters!
